The second wave of swine flu has washed across the province; similar to Australia with minimal H1N1 influenza outbreaks.
Every health district is now reporting the H1N1 virus. Health officials say 26 people have been hospitalized, including four females in intensive care.
“I don’t see anything that surprises me,” Dr. Maureen Baikie, the province’s deputy medical officer of health, said at a news conference in Halifax on Wednesday.
“We will continue to see more sick people and activity across the province.”
H1N1 is the only type of flu being reported.
“H1N1 is the only flu strain we are currently seeing in the province,” Dr. Baikie said in a news release.
The latest figures show that since the beginning of the 2009-10 flu season, which runs from September 2009 to September 2010, there are 377 lab-confirmed cases of the so-called swine flu in Nova Scotia, according to a news release from the Health Promotion and Protection Department.
So far, no one has died from this flu strain since the province’s only H1N1 death in July.
No mention of Obama-scare tatics on the U.S. citizens like the Aussies might let on. Good mates, eh?
Pandemic time in the white house; whatever it is; they caught it.
