Health and Why You Care to Reform
by Al Remington | October 8, 2009
A number of pictures come to mind with the words health, care, diet or over-weight. It is assumed that a diet or some exercise will fix poor health. When in fact our previous lifestyle has gotten us into our unhealthy condition. And, in that reasoning, “until I loose the weight” becomes temporary; not to mention it is looked upon as something dreadful and full of tasks.
Len Saputo M.D. speaks of the importance of using a holistic approach in medicine. People should only consider drugs/surgery for a medical problem after they have exhausted other avenues, such as lifestyle changes, and vitamins/supplements.
Dr. Fred Bisci, in his new book, discusses reversing Type 2 diabetes with a raw food or health regimen diet. He characterized Type 2 diabetes as lifestyle related, brought on by eating too many processed foods. While there are different emphases in raw food, such as fruit vs. greens/sprouts, the common denominator in healing, is leaving out the processed and unhealthy foods.
The current state of health for the individual depends on how well or how poorly the body processes the junk-food put into it.
What is real food?
Incredients: this is the place where the reading list of incredients on the back of the “food” container is extensive and the words are difficult to pronounce. The longer the list, the further it is from food. If you can’t pronounce it; certainly, do not consume it.
The preservatives to keep shelf-life is killing Your life. Accumulative, and over time it stresses and hinders the natural healing machine – your body; which works very hard to process un-natural chemicals.
We are accustomed to adding sugar at leasure, to our daily intake. Equal to six cups, the average american eats, from the FDA sanctioned food pyramid balanced diet, mostly carbohydrates(sugar)-60%, some protein(protein)-30 – 35%, and a little good fat-5%.
Private enterprise suggests reversing carbohydrates and protein in the “food pyramid”. Reason: protein builds lean body mass – muscles. In reversing the two roles, half as much sugar is consumed and twice as much protein.
In as much as we’re not looking to build muscular bodies, we need enough muscle mass for our particular frame, size, skelital weight, etc.
Sadly, the same balanced diet set out by the FDA is identical to that used in pig farming. I can’t see profits in skinny pigs.
Health is a choice; yours. Lifestyle change has been mentioned because our current lifestyle of eating makes us look the way we do today; overweight, unhealthy and wondering if health care should be a right.
Real food has natural sugars and ensymes. Fruit, veggies, all have specific functions in nutrition enabling digestion. When there are no foreign chemicals present; Now is the time for the body to do what the body does – heal itself.
Insulin is produced in the pancreas as a form of sugar and helps absorbtion but with the added six cups we injest each day, the result is Insulinemia. Diabetes is wide-spread in America. Shock decscribes the state in which early stages of diabetes affects the pancreas; for the simple fact – too much sugar. The pancreas is in over-load, not knowing to produce or shut down. It’s in shock.
The disfuctioning pancreas can not, in it’s current state, do it’s job of burning fat cells between meals. It would; if it were allowed to. That’s why it is hard to loose weight. In other words – loose the sugar. Real food has it’s own sugars that, with practice and time, you will be able to taste, smell and love. Promise.
A lifetime of eating one way, is hard to change.
After a few years, you may even forget what kind of things you used to eat.
Consequently, for the duration that we have been eating poorly, eating well requires a decision to change. Initially, it can be difficult without help. The hardest part is deciding to do it, or take the chance your body will not hold up under the stress.
Fifteen years ago, lifestyle-change and health were never in the same sentence. As of late, the language is coming around to rest on searching ears because; let’s face it. We’re fat. People have looked externally for health when, in fact, it is found internally and You have to do it.
