What’s Wrong With Government Is You
by Tom RemingtonMarch 1, 2010
As long as we have people writing stuff like this:
The problem is not the system. It’s us—our “got mine” culture of entitlement. Politicians, never known for their bravery, precisely represent the people. Our leaders are paralyzed by the very thought of asking their constituents to make short-term sacrifices for long-term rewards. They cannot bring themselves to raise taxes on the middle class or cut Social Security and medical benefits for the elderly. They’d get clobbered at the polls. So any day of reckoning gets put off, and put off again, and the debts pile up.
it furthers the threat that some day, perhaps not that far into the future, a revolution will begin. At present we have a government that actually believes that “we the people” are the problem. That we the people are stupid, not capable of making the right decisions and that we need to just shut up and pay our taxes, give up our freedoms and our investments.
We the people claim our share of the blame for electing such idiots in the first place but now that it’s time for reckoning, these people are saying it’s ALL our fault. Sorry! That’s not right. We are where we are because Congress is a bunch of crooks, a bunch of power hungry fools, the very fools we were warned about centuries ago that once they figured out they could give themselves raises, they didn’t care any longer.
We the people will only be pushed so far and we are rapidly coming to a point of being pushed too far. We will fight back at the polls in November but if that doesn’t work, there will be hell to pay. Just watch.

Rammell’s Billion Dollar Tax Cut For Idaho
by Tom RemingtonFebruary 1, 2010
Governor Otter must be a religious man, because for his plan to fix Idaho, the Almighty will have to take over. Let’s hope the governor knows how to get a hold of Him. I believe we need God’s help, but I also believe He expects us to act intelligently. Many economic forecasters are predicting the recession will shortly turn into a decade long depression. If Otter’s plan is to simply cut government while weathering the storm, after a decade, we won’t have a government. I have a real plan.
Four times in the last century American presidents have faced recessionary economies and have turned the tide with tax cuts. FDR raised taxes and extended the Great Depression. Obama will do the same. However, Idaho can prevent much of her suffering with a historic tax cut. Wyoming, Nevada, and South Dakota have no personal or corporate income tax and rank at the top in best business tax climates in the United States, while Idaho ranks 1st in the Northwest and 13th in the United States in greatest state and local tax burden. Idaho needs to cut taxes and cut them hard to stimulate the economy!
If I were the governor, I would advocate to the legislature that personal and corporate income tax (~1.35 billion) be eliminated and partially offset by raising the sales tax, temporarily, two cents (~350 million) to provide a billion dollar stimulus to Idaho’s economy. In order to balance Idaho’s budget, I would further advocate elementary and secondary education (~1.3 billion) be moved out of state control, back to the local level. I would then take 4 cents of the sales tax (~700 million) plus the 300 million saved at the state level and distribute it on a per student basis to the counties to pay for a general education (English, math, science, history) as required by the Idaho State Constitution. The counties would then, at their pleasure, use their billion dollar tax cut in the form of fees and fundraisers to pay for all the extras. Savings in the education budget would be realized by removing a bloated and inefficient state bureaucracy, while allowing the local communities to self direct a quality education thru the elimination of “No Child Left Behind” and cumbersome state mandates.
The billion dollar tax cut would bring new businesses to Idaho, while stimulating existing businesses to provide more jobs, investment, and growth. This would eliminate to a large degree the demand for unemployment benefits and welfare, further helping Idaho’s economy. As Idaho continues to prosper and grow, our dependence on federal funds will be eliminated, allowing Idaho to become independent and sovereign of the federal government.

So Why Did Scott Brown Win In Massachusetts?
by Tom RemingtonJanuary 20, 2010
I watched this last night on the Sean Hannity Show. Michelle Malkin recommends that every democrat leader should watch this video and I agree. However, both Dems and Republicans need to watch this video because it pretty much tells how Brown won. Hello! It isn’t because Americans are becoming more conservative. They’re just not ready for full fledged, one party politics of shoving policy down our throats.
Black Conservatives Comment on Brown Victory in Massachusetts
by Tom RemingtonJanuary 20, 2010
Washington, D.C.: Black conservatives affiliated with the Project 21 leadership network are speaking out about the stunning victory of Republican state senator Scott Brown over Democrat state attorney general Martha Coakley in Massachusetts.
Kevin L. Martin: “Scott Brown’s victory in the bluest of traditionally blue states can only be viewed as a complete loss of confidence in the policies of the Obama White House and its allies in Congress. People have tasted the fruits of a government dominated by liberal ideologues and they’ve not found it to their liking. What remains to be seen is if this repudiation has been heard and understood. Will Obama, Pelosi and Reid see the writing on the wall, or will they continue their heavy-handed attempts to ram through their agenda against the will of the people?”
Horace Cooper: “Yesterday’s victory by State Senator Brown is reminiscent of the upset off-year elections of 1994. Then, the Democrats could have seen the results for what they were – a repudiation of big government liberalism – but they refused. As someone who worked on the Hill while these races were happening, you have to wonder if this time they’ll get the message before it’s too late.”
Bob Parks: “As someone who ran – and lost – in Massachusetts, it’s great to
see a conservative win there. While Massachusetts Republicans and independents can enjoy their well-earned opportunity to gloat, they can also revel in the fact they did the impossible in an impossible state. And let’s hope leaders in Washington realize that the people responded to a conservative message – not one of moderation.”
Ellis Washington: “In Massachusetts, the site of the first tea party in 1773 and the renewed tax revolts of 2009, citizen defiance may have saved our republic. The stakes could not have been higher for the Obama Administration and congressional liberals in this special election. This may be the day in which it is guaranteed that Barack Obama will be a one-term president. Scott Brown’s election will help America take a giant step toward renewed freedom and liberty. It bodes well for renewing American exceptionalism, market capitalism and the protection of personal property and sacred inalienable rights.”
America Rising An Open Letter to Democrat Politicians
by Tom RemingtonJanuary 11, 2010
For me, this would be better titled, “America Rising: An Open Letter to ALL Politicians”. We must be reminded as we stumble along heading toward November 2, 2010, that it’s not just Democrats that threaten out liberty, that seek more government and government control. It is a scourge that has corrupted Washington and yet they think they are right. No more. We must take our country back. Question the motives of every politician.

Peter Schiff On Chris Dodd’s Announcement Not To Seek Reelection
by Tom RemingtonJanuary 6, 2010
“While Chris Dodd has come to represent all that is wrong with Washington, his decision not to seek re-election is not the solution to the problems the people of Connecticut or the United States face. The problems we face are systemic in Washington and the fight to fix our broken system of government is more important than ever.
We will not fix the problems created by Chris Dodd by sending his protégé to replace him.
From the beginning, our campaign has been about putting our state and country back on the right track. Connecticut families deserve a government that stops spending our money like it is their personal bank account. We need pro-growth policies that cut taxes, drastically cut government spending, and put an end to the bail-outs and buy-offs that have become business as usual in Washington, D.C.
The problems every American faces today are serious and we need courageous leaders who are willing to fight for what they believe and not accept the status quo because it is the politically expedient path. I look forward to continuing to visit with Connecticut voters from across the state to share my vision for economic prosperity and a return of government that truly is of, by and for the people.
We will win this campaign, and together, we will return our country to greatness.”
